Dysautonomia, hypermobility and PC3.
Dysautonomia and Positional Cervical Cord Compression (PC3)
Dysautonomia, hypermobility and PC3 are two areas where physiotherapy can be very effective. Typically clients present with a connective tissue disorder such as Marfan’s and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. However this is not always present. It is an evolving field and there are not many research articles on it. It is most likely that clients will be identified who have had a history of trauma or other long standing postural issues and who have had autonomic nervous system complaints. These clients may or may not have pain but will usually have a myriad of problems that have been formally investigated by their general practitioner and other medical specialists but have found no major cause for their problems. People will often have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and may have been quiet flexible when they were younger. Often people will have features of tachycardia, dry eyes, dietary intolerances, abnormal feelings of shortness of breath amongst other issues. Physiotherapy can assist in the physical and exercises components of these presentations. Because these problems are multifaceted a team approach including your general practitioner, rheumatologist, dietician, nutritionist and other health providers is needed.
Due to the often long and complex history Stuart may need 1 hour for the initial appointment where people feel that they might be affected from these issues. Please alert our admin staff when making the appointment if this sounds like you.
